Hoffman and Vorkapich created two visual tone poems together. The second of which, "Forest Murmurs" (1947), was restored by David Shepard in 2004.

This collection consists of lectures, articles, newspaper clippings, correspondences, photographs, and other papers on film montage editors John Hoffman and Slavko Vorkapich compiled by film preservationist David Shepard. Hoffman and Vorkapich created two visual tone poems together. The second of which, "Forest Murmurs" (1947), was restored by David Shepard in 2004.

Biographical / historical:

David Shepard (1940-2017) was a film preservationist. His company, Film Preservation Associates, created high quality versions of silent films. Shepard joined the American Film Institute and started restoring films in 1968. John Hoffman (1904-1980) was an American director and film editor of montage sequences. Slavko Vorkapich (1894-1976) was a Serbian-born Hollywood montage creator and a former chair of the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts from 1949 to 1951. John Hoffman and Slavko Vorkapich created two visual tone poems together. The second of which, "Forest Murmurs" (1947), was restored by David Shepard in 2004.
