Photograph album of cartes-de-visite from Mexico, most likely during the period of the French intervention in Mexico, when
the French invaded and installed Maximilian, Archduke of Austria, as Emperor of Mexico. The photographs include images of
Maximilian and members of his family; various Mexican nobility, both male and female; Napoleon III and the Empress Eugenie
and their children; Mexican heads of state and military figures. The majority of the photographs are identified, although
some are not, and some are hand-colored.
