Scope and content:

Publication information, article typescripts, correspondence, advertising information, layout graphics, and clippings pertaining to The Forum, a bi-weekly publication directed to Southern California's gay and lesbian community, limited to two issues in 1974. The bulk of the collection consists of articles written by contributors, including several articles by news editor Doug Sarff, who had previously been a reporter for The Advocate.

Biographical / historical:

The Forum was a bi-weekly newsmagazine of Southern California's gay and lesbian community. " The Forum is frankly designed to report primarily on news of the gay community, because we feel this minority group is making news which is not being adequately reported elsewhere, and because it constitutes a market of growing economic importance." The Forum's other declared purpose was to build a readership described as "concerned, liberal, and young in spirit, without regard to sex or sexual orientation." The Forum published only two issues in 1974.
