Cathy Cade is an Oakland, California-based photographer. She was active in the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s and has been documenting the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender communities since the 1970s. She is the author, publisher and photographer of A Lesbian Photo Album: The Lives of Seven Lesbian Feminists. The collection includes photographs, artifacts, including a miniature Volkswagen car, belt buckle and silver ring with female symbols, a lesbian button, a Rise Up Sisters T-shirt, and a SNCC button, and publications including Sisterhood is Powerful, Personal Politics, The Movement, and the American Country Woman.
