    Abstract: The International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Local 150 (Sacramento, Calif.) records covers a time period from 1907 to 2011 with the bulk of the collection covering the years 1941 through 1971. The collection contains ledger books from 1907 through 1942, and meeting minute books from 1941 through 1971. The collection also contains agreement books, newsletters, a blood donation ledger, and an election ledger covering the years 1959 through 1961.

    Biography / Administrative History

    The International Brotherhood of Teamsters was formed in 1903 by the merger of the Team Drivers International Union and The Teamsters National Union. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters' purpose is to organize and educate workers so that they will attain a higher standard of living.
    International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 150 serves the Sacramento region, and was originally charted in 1931 with the merger of other Locals. Local Union Number 557 was chartered in 1903. Local Union Number 557 merged with Local Union Number 573 on February 1, 1926. Local Union Number 573 merged with Local Union Number 585 on February 1, 1926. Local Union Numbers 230 and 585 merged to become Local Union Number 150 on August 28, 1931.
    Local Union Number 150 continued to grow as it continued to merge with other locals. Local Union Number 885 merged with Local Union Number 150 on January 9, 1939 and Local Union Number 947 merged with Local Union Number 150 on January 16, 1939. Local Union Number 150 was granted special charter on December 1, 1940, replacing their original charter from 1931. Local Union Number 150 continues to provide representation for public and private sector workers in the Sacramento region.

    Scope and Content of Collection

    The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 150 is arranged into ten series: 1. Ledgers, 2. Meeting minute ledgers, 3. Agreements, 4. Blood donation ledger, 5. Call list and A-List book, 6. Construction dispatch ledger, 7. Election ledger, 8. Local 150 newsletters, 9. Ephemera, and 10. Artifacts. Items span the years 1907 to 1991. The first series, Ledgers is divided into six subseries: Local 150, Local 557, Local 583, Local 803, Local 885, and Local 947. The items in this series range from 1907 through 1942, with the bulk of the material dating from the 1930s.
    The second series consists of the Local 150’s Meeting minute ledgers dating from 1941 through 1971. The specific contents of each ledger varies but topics include: Executive Board; General Meetings; Business Agents; Bakery, Meat, Ice and Beverage Drivers; Material Teamsters, Dump Truck, Produce and Transit Mix; and Heavy Truck Drivers, City and County Employees, Tanks, Furniture and Oil Truck Drivers; Financial Statements; Report of Audit; Membership Reports; Donations; Letters of Appreciation; Suspended Members; and Ephemera. The third series consists of two Agreement ledgers. The first books covers the years 1949 through 1959 belonged to Felix Elorduy, and the second covered the years 1950 through 1959 belonged to Albert A. Marty.The fourth series consists of a Blood Donation Ledger covering the years 1957 through 1985.
    The fifth series is comprised of the Call List and A-List Book encompassing the years 1979 through 1991. The A-List Book is divided by month and year followed by a roster of members with notations. The Call List contains a list of business names, dates and the names of the members contacted for work. The Call List used the A-List book for the order of members contacted for each assignment. The sixth series is a Construction Dispatch Book covering the years 1970 through 1990. The seventh series is an Election Ledger, including absentee ballots, for the years 1959 through 1961. The eighth series consists of the Local 150 Newsletters, 1964 through 1967. The ninth series includes ephemera and is divided into two sub-series: local information; national information. The tenth series includes artifacts and includes a King James Version Bible; two Local 150 plastic coffee mugs; five election buttons; and one picket sign.
