Born in San Bernardino, California, on August 7, 1938, Thomas M. Cover received a B.S. in
physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1960, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees,
both in electrical engineering, from Stanford in 1961 and 1964, respectively.
