    Abstract: Hardcover sketchbook of erotic drawings created by Ernest Posey, undated. Posey was an artist, teacher, business manager, mediator-arbitrator, filmmaker, public television director, author, graphic designer, and book illustrator who spent most of his life in Northern California.

    Biographical / Historical

    Ernest Noel Posey was born in New Orleans on December 25, 1937. He earned a degree in Fine Arts from Louisiana State University and a degree in Architecture from Tulane. Posey moved to New York City and had his first solo exhibition in 1966 at the Henri Gallery in Washington, D.C. In 1968, he moved to San Francisco, where he had a solo show at the Galeria Van der Voort. Over his career, Posey had over two dozen solo exhibitions and his work is included in a number of important collections. He taught at the California College of Art and the San Francisco Academy of Art University where he was Chairman of the Department of Fine Art. He was business manager for the California Federation of Art Teachers, and a mediator-arbitrator with California Lawyers for the Arts. Mr. Posey was also a filmmaker, public television director, author, graphic designer and book illustrator. In the late 1980s, Posey moved to Mendocino County and worked exclusively on his paintings, drawings and assemblages. Ernest was diagnosed with a brain tumor in the fall of 2007 and passed away peacefully two months later.
