Description
A collection of chiefly 19th-century photographs mounted in their original cases, and some related images. The majority are daguerreotypes and ambrotypes, 1840s-1860s, and are primarily portraits with some outdoor views including Gold Rush miners.

Restrictions
The Huntington Library does not require that researchers request permission to quote from or publish images of this material, nor does it charge fees for such activities. The copyright for daguerreotypes by Robert Shlaer (photDAG 116, photDAG 154) is held by Shlaer. For the rest of the collection, the responsibility for identifying the copyright holder, if there is one, and obtaining permission rests with the researcher.
