Materials are from director and Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student and Developmental Health Edward Wiesmeier's administrative files, and include reports on student health committees and initiatives on the topics of quality of care, drug abuse, and AIDS, among others. Student Health Services is now housed in the Arthur Ashe Student Health & Wellness Center.

    Record Series 496 contains administrative documents, internal reports, and correspondences of UCLA Student Health Services (SHS) from 1962 to 1995. Records are from the director and Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student and Developmental Health Edward Wiesmeier's administrative files, and include reports on student health committees, initiatives, and programs.

    Biographical / Historical

    Student Health Services provides care for students, including primary care, women's health, immunizations, travel medicine, physical therapy, specialty clinics, radiology, and laboratory, and acupuncture and massage. Student Health Services was established in 1918, when the campus was located on Vermont Avenue. The facilities were moved to the Westwood campus in 1928 and relocated to the Center for the Health Sciences in 1954. Student Health Services is now housed in the Arthur Ashe Student Health & Wellness Center and is located on Bruin Plaza.
