Andrew L. Stone is best known as a motion picture director and producer. The collection consists of various drafts of scripts
including
Julie,
The Last Voyage,
The Password Is Courage,
Ring of Fire, and
Song of Norway, among many others.
Background
Andrew Lysander Stone was born in Oakland, California on July 16, 1902. He was a student at the University of California.
In the 1920s, Stone moved to Hollywood, California. He worked in a film laboratory and in Universals prop department before
directing at Paramount in ca. 1926. Stone produced and scripted most of his own films. Among his numerous credits include
Cry Terror,
The Elegy,
Julie,
The Last Voyage,
The Password Is Courage,
Ring of Fire, and
Song of Norway. He died in Los Angeles, California in 1999.
