The first half of this volume is a chronometer book and the second half is a cash book for a vessel departing from Hong Kong on 30 May 1849 and arriving in San Francisco on 21 August 1849. The auther may have been Robert Pennington. The chronometer book gives reading, longitude and latitude and seldom comments on weather and sail. The cash book notes daily expenditures and balances. There is a photocopy of a page from the "Quarterly of the Society of Pioneers" dated 31 December 1924. The article is titled "Harbormaster's list of arrivals March 26, 1949 to December 30, 1849." The volume is available for research use without restriction.
