Abstract: Jackie Torrence (1944-2004) was a storyteller and author. The collection contains a copy of her book,
Jackie Tales, ten black and white photographs of Torrence by Michael Pateman from the book, as well as a video,
Jackie Tales. The book contains sixteen tales as well as storytelling tips and closeup photographs of Torrence.

Biography
Jackie Torrence was born on February 12, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois. Her career as a storyteller started in 1972 and she went
on to perform throughout the country. In 1997, she was honored with the World Storytelling Award.
In addition to her book, Jackie Tales, she also authored
The Importance of Pot Liquor.
Torrence passed away on November 30, 2004.
