Administrative/Biographical History
Williams was born on September 17, 1883 in Rutherford, New Jersey; MD, University of Pennsylvania, 1906; postgraduate study
at University of Leipzig, 1909-10; intern, French Hospital and Nursery and Child's Hospital, New York City, 1906-09; private
medical practice in Rutherford, 1910-51; visiting professor of English, University of Washington, 1948; became poet, playwright,
and novelist; published works include: The tempers (1913), Spring and all (1923), Paterson (1946-1958), Selected poems (1949),
and Pictures from Brueghel and other poems (1962), for which he won the Pulitzer Prize in 1963; he died on Mar. 4, 1963 in
Rutherford.
Scope and Contents
Collection consists of cassette tape recordings of William Carlos Williams issued by Keele University. Includes 15 audiocassettes
and an accompanying booklet describing the recordings.
