    Scope and Contents

    This collection contains correspondence to Hagar Hartman from three soldiers during the Second World War. They include the following:
    • 9 letters from Sgt. Robert Rockway to Hagar Hartman, written from New Guinea (1942-1944). Of note is his comment in one letter that "I am not working very hard and am spending considerable time sleeping."
    • 1 letter from "Eddie" (no last name) to Hagar Hartman, written 3 February 1945. Of note is his hope that with 30 months of service, he will be eligible for stateside service.
    • 1 letter from J.M. Martin to "Trudy," written 18 October 1944
