    Joe Chino was born in 1925 and passed away in 2005. He was a soldier in the Military Intelligence Service, graduated from Fort Snelling and was likely stationed in the Post-war Occupation of Japan.

    Scope and Contents

    This collection contains 234 scanned photographs, many likely taken by Joe Chino, the collector. Chino was a soldier in the MIS and many of the photographs depict him and other soldiers. There are also many photographs of the US Army occupation of Japan.
    The photographs are black and white and have a wide range of subject matter, from Japanese farmers to American soldiers. Some of the photographs indicate that they were taken as part of the Works Progress Administration.
