The documents in this collection are the declaration of Sigmund Einstein's assets and the justification for the seizure of his assets by the German government. The documents identify In this collection is stated Einstein's personal and family information.

Biographical / historical:

Sigmund Einstein was a Jewish unskilled worker born in Munich on July 20, 1899. The Gestapo document describes the confiscation of his assets, the grounds fo which lay in several laws passed in Germany and the German territories in the 1930s and 1940s. These are the Law regarding the Seizure of Communist Assets, passed on 26 May 1933 (RGBl. I S. 293); the Law regarding the Confiscation of Assets in the Hands of Enemies of the People and the State, passed on 14 July 1933 (RGBl. I S. 479), which extended the provisions of the law passed on May 26th; the Ordinance on the Seizure of Assets of Enemies of the People and the State in Austria, passed on 18 November 1938 (RGBl I S. 1620); the Ordinance on the Seizure of Assets of Enemies of the People and the State in the Sudeten Territories, passed on 12 May 1939 (RGBl. I S. 911); the Ordinance on the Seizure of Assets in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, passed on 4 October 1939 (RGBl. I S. 1998); and the Decree of the Fuhrer and Reich Chancellor regarding the Utilization of Confiscated Property of Enemies of the Reich, passed on 29 May 1941 (RGBl. I S. 303).
