Biographical / Historical
Burress was deputy counsel to President Richard M. Nixon, 1969-1971, and assistant to Vice President Gerald R. Ford, 1973-1974.
Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Burress received his BA degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, his JD degree from the Law
School of the University of Iowa, and his LLM from the Graduate School of Law at New York University. He was a senior fellow
emeritus at the Hoover Institution when he passed away on October 26, 2013.
Scope and Contents
The transcript of this oral history interview of Burress was conducted by Randy Adkins, history professor at the University
of Nebraska, Oklahoma. The interview relates to the presidential administration of Richard M. Nixon.
