Description
Correspondence, pamphlets, press releases, flyers, meeting minutes, fundraising mailers, articles of association, bylaws, meeting attendance lists, and other material documenting activities of the Society for Senior Gay and Lesbian Citizens (SSLGC), 1980-1985. The collection includes digital images of signs and parades of SSLGC, 2009-2011. According to the SSGLC's mission statement, the organization was founded "to extend help and support to their older gay and lesbian brothers and sisters on all levels of economic, spiritual, and physical need."
Background
The Society for Senior Gay and Lesbian Citizens (SSGLC) was founded in Los Angeles in 1980 "to extend help and support to their older gay and lesbian brothers and sisters on all levels of economic, spiritual, and physical need." The SSGLC's goals included providing a range of community services for gay and lesbian senior citizens, as well as raising funds to establish a foundation to in order to pursue similar ends in the long term.
