Series 1: Correspondence 1922-1923

Scope and Content

Most of the letters are from William (Bill) Webster to his parents, Nellie and John, while he was at the Urban Military Academy in Los Angeles or at Camp Curry in Yosemite National Park. The letters discuss the activities he was involved in, the family's health, and financial matters. In addition, there is a letter with two family photographs from Bernice and Wilfred Christlieb. The couple appear to be the niece and nephew of John and Nellie Webster. Lastly, a letter from the Waterworks and Utility Division of the county of Los Angeles to its new customers regarding the company's take over of Deer Path Mutual Water Company of Malibu is included.

Series 2: Photographs circa 1900s

Physical Description: (plus oversize picture)

Scope and Content

The series includes eight photographs of what appears to be a work environment, possibly a factory. The location and individuals are unidentified. There is also an oversize picture of John L. Webster and a group of men from the class of November 21, 1921. The picture says Spes Mea In Deo Est which is a Masonic Motto that means My Hope is in God.

Scope and Content

The series includes materials relating to William's time at Urban Military Academy. The Urbanite was the schools publication.

Series 4: Financial Records 1925-1958

Scope and Content

The Financial Records series includes receipts and invoices from 1925 to 1941 regarding rent on a cabin at Los Flores Inn. Also included, is a ledger belonging to John and Nellie Webster from 1948-1958.
