In 1982, Dr. Barry Singer, a controversial psychology professor at California State University Long Beach (CSULB), came under
fire by Evangelical Christian groups for his "tolerance of homosexuality" in teaching a Psychology of Sex course, as well
as accusations of having relationships with students. In addition to Singer, conservative Christian groups also targeted
women's groups in CSULB for being "pro-lesbian."
