This collection contains issues of Ang Katipunan, the newspaper of the Katipunan ng mga Demokratikong Pilipino (KDP) [
Union of Democratic Filipinos], as well as issues of Kalayaan International- a publication created by the Kalayaan Collective, a group who would go on
to form KDP.
Background
The
Union
of
Democratic
Filipinos or Katipunan ng Demokratikong Pilipino(KDP) was founded in 1973 by Filipino Americans and immigrants who were interested
in social justice issues; democratic nationalism in the Phillipines; and anti-imperalist, anti-war, and anti-racism issues;
as well as martial law and the opposition of Ferdinand Marcos' dictatorship in the Phillipines. The KDP disbanded in 1986.
Restrictions
All requests for permission to publish or quote from manuscripts must be submitted in writing to the Director of Archives
and Special Collections. Permission for publication is given on behalf of Special Collections as the owner of the physical
materials and not intended to include or imply permission of the copyright holder, which must also be obtained.
