of farm workers in California; the work lives of workers; the US/Mexico border; the impact of the Iraq war on the working
people of Iraq; the migration of indigenous communities in Mexico, Guatemala and the Philippines to the United States; social
protest movements in the United States; labor protests; hunger and homelessness in Northern California; and literacy and education
of children. -- from catalog record
Scope and Contents
Physical materials are predominantly photographic materials: primarily prints, with some slides, proof sheets, and negatives,
of David Bacon's work as a photojournalist. A set of photographs of elementary students includes release forms from parents
allowing their children's images to be used. Also included are some exhibition materials such as labels, summaries, personal
narratives, magazines, and brochures. These are mostly related to the projects "Every worker is an organizer" and "Transnational
Working Communities." There is also a small amount of material from Bacon's work with the Free South Africa Labor Committee.
Arrangement
Arrangement of materials is adapted from David Bacon's own system on his website, by subject and then by project title (if
applicable). File names are derived from the labels on the original photo boxes.
