The collection is arranged alphabetically by magazine. Within a magazine the issues are arranged chronologically.
Scope and Contents
Competition Surf only produced six periodicals during its short career. This collection contains one periodical from Competition
Surf in 1966.
The Surfer is the world's most widely sold magazine related to
surfing
. It started in 1960 with quarterly releases, but due to its remarkable success the magazine quickly escalated to monthly
issues. Recently, the magazine started releasing yearly specials as well, totaling thirteen periodical publciations per year.
The Surfer is still in print and remains the most popular
surfing
magazine in the world to date.
The Surfer's Journal is a California-based bimonthly magazine that released its first issue in 1992. It is still in business
today and is read globally.

Surfing
Magazine was a small magazine that published bimonthly articles from 1963 to 1969.

Magazine, the
Surfing
magazine was a highly popular magazine from its early days in the 1970s until the early 2000s. In 2017,
Surfing
was bought by its longtime rival Surfer (above).
The
Surfing
Yearbook is a periodical that ran for most of the 1960s. It places an emphasis on outstanding surfers and feats that they
have accomplished over a given year.
Of these magazines, only The Surfer and The Surfer's Journal are still independently in business. The other magazines were
either discontinued or bought out by larger competition.
