Biographical / Historical
The Center for Cultural Studies at University of California, Santa Cruz is a research
center focused on interdisciplinary and interdivisional research and scholarship in Cultural
Studies. The Center was founded in 1988 as a part of the University of California
President's Humanities Initiative.
Content Description
Administrative records of the UC Santa Cruz Center for Cultural Studies, including
correspondence, event files, grant files, reports, publicity materials and audio
recordings.
Arrangement
This collection is arranged into two series: Administrative records and Audio recordings.
Administrative records are arranged in original order, which is roughly chronological.
Summary reports and grant files are concentrated in boxes 11-12. Audio recordings are
arranged in chronological order.
Separated Materials
Recordings of several conferences were cataloged separatley and are availble via the
Library catalog. These include Queer Encounters II: Crusades and (post) Colonialisms, Place
Locality and Globalization, Native Pacific Cultural Studies On the Edge, Post-Positions:
Culture on the Move, Feminism and Discourses of Power, Left Conservatism, Borders/Diasporas,
and Psychoanalysis in African American Contexts.
Appraisal
Records containing personally identifying information were removed from the collection.
