Biographical / Historical
Reflection Press was an independent press for artistic and artistic-political publications
founded in 1968 by Albrecht d. The press operated in Stuttgart until 1988. He stated that
Reflection Press was really "a fake press [and] the forgery of a publisher," preferring to
think of the press as a long-term project. The press published 50 numbered and numerous
other editions. The publications ranged between 30 and 1000 copies.

Reflection Press war ein Eigenverlag für künstlerische und künstlerisch-politische
Publikationen, den Albrecht d. 1968 gründete und bis 1988 in Stuttgart betrieb. Er erklärte,
dass Reflection Press wirklich „ein Fake-Verlag, die Fälschung eines Verlags" sei–und zog es
vor, die Presse als ein langfristiges Projekt zu betrachten. Die Presse veröffentlichte 50
nummerierte und zahlreiche andere Editionen. Die Auflagen bewegten sich zwischen 30 und
1.000 Exemplaren.

The bulk of the collection is made up of publications from the Reflection Press. This
includes a numbered run of artists leaflets and prints, as well as additional material from
artists operating with the group. Also included are audio materials in the form of cassette
tapes and LP vinyl records. Topics covered in the art include politics, Dadaism, and German
art history.

Der Großteil der Sammlung besteht aus Veröffentlichungen der Reflection Press. Dazu gehören
eine nummerierte Auflage von Künstlerbroschüren und -drucken sowie anderes Material von

Edition of 40 copies. Signed and numbered. 11.75 x 8.25″. Unpaginated. A collection
of flyers made by Albrecht D. at the Cologne Art Fair in 1969. He had been invited by
Galerie Bock to attend and made 14+ flyers, one per day, to distribute at the fair.
These flyers included ideas and jokes, one of which was an invitation to discuss about
the art market at Galerie Beck. This infuriated the art dealers and after this
incident, Albrecht D. was considered off limits by the commercial art galleries.

flyers and information regarding the art market produced daily during the Cologne Art
Fair 1969. On the front cover Albrecht D. reproduced an ad for toilet paper consisting
of a series of buttocks. Thus the title „Artists are … Assholes". He made this joke in
homage to Yoko Ono and her film No. 4. As flug/flux BLATTzeitung 9 resulted in a break
with the art dealers, this publication went a step further and instigated a break with
artists.
