Scope and content:

Mounted black and white photographs relating to the book “A Gift to the Street” by Carol Olwell, page numbers and addresses noted on the backside of image.

Biographical / historical:

Photographer Carol Olwell spent two years cataloguing San Francisco’s Victorian homes, a project that resulted in over 11, 500 pictures. Her work has been shown at the M.H. de Young Museum as part of the Bicentennial exhibit “As We Were, As We Are.” Judith Lynch Waldhorn wrote the commentary with the assistance of the National Endowments for the Arts Fellowship. She taught courses in Victorian architecture at Stanford University, San Francisco State University, and the University of California Extension.
