    Organizational History

    The UCSF Child Care/study Center opened in January 1979. It is operated by UCSF through the offices of the Vice-chancellor, Personnel and Student Services, and through the School of Nursing, Department of Family Health Care Nursing. It provides all-day work site childcare for 48 children ages 2-5, serving UCSF students and staff, and the nearby community.
    It is the goal of the Center to provide safe, healthy and nurturing environment for pre-school age children; to provide parents with support and models for modes of child rearing; to serve as training site for child development programs and to serve as a setting for non-obtrusive research relating to children's health and development.
