Scope and Contents Note
This series contains the raw footage from 9 separate interviews conducted from 2020 to 2021 by the Amplify Womxn of UCI: Hearing
Our Stories program. The program was described by its creators as a way to aid in the eradication of anti-Black and anti-inclusive
mindsets through 5-minute mini interviews in which guests (UCI staff, faculty, and retirees) will share their personal experiences
with discrimination and/or profiling based on race, gender, disability, and/or other pieces of their identity. The Amplify
series took inspiration from the Black Lives Matter Movement and sought to create a space for the women at UC Irvine to be
heard. These videos were shared on the UCI Media youtube page as well as the Amplify Womxn of UCI website.
These digital interview recordings, ranging from 34 to 54 minutes, cover a range of topics, including the Covid-19 Pandemic,
rise in xenophobia and anti-Asian sentiments, Black Lives Matter Movement and protest, as well as the interviewees' individual
backgrounds and experiences within academia. Those interviewed were from different departments on campus and backgrounds,
the list of interviews includes: Elizabeth Yi, Erika Hayasaki, Judy Tzuz-Chun Wu, Karen Andrews, Krystal Tribbett, Sydney
Charles, Taum Larson, Thais Bouchereau, and Thuy Vo Dang.
