    Historical Statement

    The Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation is the largest community-based development center in San Francisco, and is a pioneer in permanent supportive housing. TNDC began in 1981, renovating a Single Room Occupancy (SRO) residential hotel in the Tenderloin. Over the years, the agency expanded services to include social work, health and wellness, after-school care, urban agriculture and community food distribution, and community organizing. In 2022, operations include 44 buildings across 7 neighborhoods in San Francisco, with 12 more buildings planned by 2025.
