The collection is available for use during San Francisco History Center hours, with photographs available during Photo Desk
hours. Collections that are stored offsite should be requested 48 hours in advance.
Publication Rights
All requests for permission to publish or quote from manuscripts must be submitted in writing to the City Archivist. Permission
for publication is given on behalf of the San Francisco Public Library as the owner of the physical items.

Historical Statement
The Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation is the largest community-based development center in San Francisco, and
is a pioneer in permanent supportive housing. TNDC began in 1981, renovating a Single Room Occupancy (SRO) residential hotel
in the Tenderloin. Over the years, the agency expanded services to include social work, health and wellness, after-school
care, urban agriculture and community food distribution, and community organizing. In 2022, operations include 44 buildings
across 7 neighborhoods in San Francisco, with 12 more buildings planned by 2025.
