Theodore Payne (1872-1963) was a horticulturalist, nurseryman, and expert on California native plants. He was born in 1872
in Church Brampton, Northamptonshire, England. He moved to California in 1893 and owned and operated a nursery in Los Angeles
from 1903 through 1960.
