Scope and content:

The Constance Barker collection spans the years 1935-1952 and encompasses approximately one linear foot. Most of the material has no relation to motion pictures; however, there are several letters from Lex Barker dating from the period after the couple's separation.

Biographical / historical:

Constance Barker, born Constance Rhodes Thurlow, was actor Lex Barker's first wife. The couple's marriage lasted from 1942 to 1950. Constance Barker was raised in New York and graduated from Mount Vernon Junior College in Washington, D.C. In 1952 she married John Lawrence Adams in California.
