    Abstract: This collection contains seven items collected by Johnny Edward Mofield and donated to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society to honor Ray Collins and Gerard White. The items include one post card, one carte d'visite, four letters, and one ration book with sleeve. The carte d'visite is an image of a Charles Dehm/Dehne [?]. The letters include: One letter, from "Stone" Blanchard to E.P. Blanchard Three letters to Philip Hinkle, from "TMH" and the Assistant Librarian at Yale University

    Content Description

    This collection contains seven items collected by Johnny Edward Mofield and donated to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society to honor Ray Collins and Gerard White.
    The items in this collection relate to five different service members during the First World War and the Second World War. The service members are Charles M. Polland, Stone Blanchard, Charles Dehm [or Dehne], M. B. Thomason, and Philip Hinkle.
    The material from Stone Blanchard is a letter to his father, E. P. Blanchard, from July 14, 1918. The letter is written on stationary from teh Aviation Section of the U.S. Army. In the letter, Blanchard informs his father of his arrival at Camp Abraham Eustis.
    Relating to Charles "Chas" Dehm [or Dehne] is a carte de visite, which features of protrait of himself in uniform. Written on the card is, "Merry Xmas, 1918."
    The item relating to Charles M. Polland is an American Red Cross postcard sent to his mother, Mrs. Richard Polland, informing her that he arrived overseas safely.
    Three of the correspondence in the collection relate to Philip Hinkle. The first letter is written to Hinkle from July 8 to July 16, 1937 from someone called "T.M.H". He writes of hearing about and witnessing fighting between China and Japan at the start of the Sino-Japanese War. The second letter written by T.M.H. to Hinkle is from July 25, 1937. He writes of his time in China and hearing about negotiations between China and Japan.
    The third letter is written to Hinkle from James T. Babb, the Assistant Librarian at Yale University, from February 22, 1943. Babb writes about materials that the library would like to aquire.
    The last item in the collection is ration book and sleeve that belonged to M.B. Thomason from 1944. The book contains four pages of ration stamps.
