John H. Coppersmith was the owner/builder of the house at 8715 Skyline Drive in Los Angeles, Calif. Coppersmith apparently was friends with Rudolf Schindler, who was also living on Skyline Drive (with Ellen Janson), and Schindler drew a site plan for the Coppersmith house and driveway, circa 1953. Coppersmith was a bridge engineer and designed the house himself.
