The records comprise 11 ledgers documenting prune picking from multiple locations, including Moorpark, Wellington Ranch, Trask Ranch, County Ranch, Prusch Ranch. In addition, a ledger from George Kiperash & Son contains labor and expenses for 1957, and a check register contains stubs from 1956.

Biographical / historical:

George S. Kiperash, Sr., was a native of Yugoslavia who lived in San Jose for 66 years. He died in 1958. Son Sam G. Kiperash (d. 1982) and his brothers, George and Milo, owned farmland along Penitencia Creek, some of which was purchased by the Santa Clara Valley Water District for percolation ponds in 1961. In 1977 another parcel was purchased to complete Penitencia Creek Park. The Kiperash land was surrounded by real estate development by 1981, and George Kiperash, Jr., decided to shut down the farm and sell.

Acquisition information:
Transferred to the San Jose Historical Museum in 1997 by the City of San Jose's Public Works Department. The materials were found on land near Penitencia Creek Park.
