Background
Founded in 1986, UC San Diego's Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies (IRPS) was established as the
University of California's only professional school of international affairs, and the first in a public university in the
United States. The curriculum focuses on the issues of business, economics, politics, and security in a global context, with
particular emphasis on the Pacific Region, including Asia and Latin America.
