    Biographical / Historical Notes

    The Connors and O’Neill families, related through marriage, were active in Old Town in the mid-1800s to early 1900s. Patrick O’Neill owned and operated the American Hotel in Old Town and served as postmaster there. Paul Connors served as a police officer and court bailiff in San Diego. The O’Neills are also related to the Machado family through the marriage of Patrick O’Neill and Lorenza Machado.

    Scope and Content

    This collection contains family papers of the Connors and O’Neill families, and some documents related to the Machado house in Old Town. Materials include correspondence, receipts, certificates, invitations, affidavits, and court decrees. Also included are vital records and biographical information.

    This collection is arranged alphabetically by name of individual family member.
