Background
Ludmila Foster, born in 1931, was a Russian émigré journalist and scholar. She received her Ph.D. in Russian Literature from
Harvard University in 1970 and subsequently worked for the Voice of America and the United States Information Agency. She
later headed the Washington Office of the Congress of Russian Americans. Foster died in 2014.
