Description
This collection contains photographs, clippings, audio discs, and production materials from movie, television, and theater projects of German director John Brahm (1893-1982), dating from the 1920s to the 1960s and chiefly for American projects.
Background
John Brahm (1893-1982) was a German film and television director. He began in theater in Europe before moving to England, where he directed his first film, Broken Blossoms in 1936. In 1937, Brahm moved to the United States, where he made more than twenty-five films, chiefly from the late 1930s to the 1950s, followed by a number of television movies and episodes in the 1950s and 1960s. Brahm was married three times, including to German actor Dolly Haas from 1937 to 1941.
