Description
C. Easton Rothwell served as the President of Mills College from 1959 to 1967. The C. Easton Rothwell Papers primarily include
his correspondence, speeches, and records from this time.
Background
After a childhood in Butte, Montana, C. Easton Rothwell attended Reed College in Oregon from 1920-1924. During his career,
he worked for the U. S. State Department from 1941-1946; he helped found the United Nations; he was affiliated with the Hoover
Institute and Library at Stanford University from 1947-1959, including serving as its director; and he was the president of
Mills College from 1959-1967.
