    Biography/Administrative History

    Incorporated December 18, 1869 as a consolidation of the California & Oregon Railroad (of 1868). • 1. California & Oregon Railroad (of 1868) • (a) California & Oregon Railroad Company (of 1865) • (b) Marysville Railroad Company • (c) California Central Railroad Company • 2. Yuba Railroad •The California & Oregon Railroad was operated by the Central Pacific and was consolidated with it on August 22, 1870. On that date it owned a total of 77.53 miles of track: 23.90 acquired with the Yuba Rail Road, 10.30 of the former California Central, plus 43.33 miles between Marysville and Chico constructed between May and July of 1870.     Scope and Content of Collection

    A day book from the California & Oregon Railroad dating from May 1869 to September 1875 shows daily financial transactions. It covers the period of its operation until five years after it was consolidated with the Central Pacific.
