Abstract: Small archive consists mainly of correspondence relating to Yoffe’s editorial work in Israel.
Avraham B. Yoffe was born in Belz, Bessarabia (now in Western Ukraine), on March 13, 1924. He emigrated to Israel in 1940,
and in 1943 began a prolific literary career which included poetry, literary criticism, pieces for radio and film as well
as editing dozens of books. In 1950, Yoffe joined the editorial board of Al Hamishmar, the newspaper affiliated with Mapam
(the United Workers’ Party), where he edited the literary supplement. Over his long career, he was received numerous literary
prizes.
Avraham Yoffe died in June 2008.
This small archive consists mainly of correspondence relating to Yoffe’s editorial work. It illustrates the interconnectivity
of Israel’s literary network in the twentieth century.
Arranged into 5 series: Series 1, Correspondence. Series 2, Clippings. Series 3, Ephemera. Series 4, Poems. Series 5, Photographs.
