Background

Scope and content:

A. P. "Dutch" Hamann was the city manager of San Jose from 1950 to 1969. These papers document some of his activities after his tenure with the City. They include his work with the San Jose Chamber of Commerce, Bicentennial Celebration planning, "Little Hoover" Commission, Brandeis University, and California Highway Commission Airspace Advisory Committee.

Biographical / historical:

A. P. Hamann was City Manager of San Jose from 1950-1969, and later worked at Santa Clara University in the Office of Development. He died in 1977.

Acquisition information:
Originally part of the Hamann Papers at Santa Clara University Archives, these files were transferred from Santa Clara University in 2002 because they did not relate to Hamann's work at the University. They were found in his SCU office after his death.
