Arranged geographically in the following order: map of railroads of Western Unites States; maps of the railroads of California; and maps, blueprints, and charts relating to individual California railroads. Material relating to specific California railroads further arranged as follows: steam railroads placed first, electric railroads thereafter, organized alphabetically by name of railroad thereunder.

Maps showing railroad routes, lines of street railways, and location of railroad facilities such as yards, workshops, and stations; plans of facilities such as stations, freight depots, and trestles; and charts and diagrams containing information on the valuation of railroads and on passenger usage. Certain of these items may have been filed as exhibits in complaint or application proceedings, but lack identification.

Of special interest are copies of the 1915, 1922, and 1926 editions of the official C.R.C. railroad map of California - showing the location of all the state's railroads, highways, and pipelines. Also in series is a stock journal of the San Diego, Riverside, and Los Angeles Railway.
