Drikung Kagyu

A Kagyu lineage founded by Jigten Sumgon (1143-1217) and headed jointly by the Chetsang and Chungtsang Tulkus. Influential in the lineage since 1959 is Ayang Rinpoche, and the chief abbot of the lineage is the Khenpo Konchog Gyaltsen, resident at the Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Center in Frederick, Maryland. The lineage is noted for its P'howa ceremony.
