James Dix Schuyler papers, 1886-1912, bulk 1896-1907

Burson, D. M. D. M. Burson's report to San Francisco Savings Union, re a preliminary survey of Nigger Jim Canyon on the Temecula Creek for the purpose of taking out water to irrigate Pauba and Temecula Ranches. 1891.

Containers:
Box 7, Folder 45.1
Scope and content:

The title of this item was supplied by Burson, the report's author. It reflects a racist place name that was in use at the time the report was written. The canyon surveyed is now part of the Vail Lake reservoir on Temecula Creek, east of Temecula, California. UCR Library has chosen to retain and add context to the report author's use of harmful language in this finding aid, in order to preserve information about the context of the report's creation.

Bound with letter report to Pauba Land & Water Co., San Francisco.
