Scope and content:

Contains the office files of the division responsible for the infrastructure of the Exposition. The Division of Works regulated and coordinated the design, construction, operation, and disposal of the structures, exhibition spaces, and grounds.

Includes financial records, contracts, licenses and permits, rules and regulations, progress reports, blueprints, and specifications. Also includes correspondence related to the construction of facilities, concessions and amusements, security, sanitation, utilities, insurance, traffic and transportation, property, art and design, labor, and landscaping. Extensive files detail the participation of states and foreign countries in the fair and may include blueprints for concessions.

The series also contains interoffice communication between Harris D.H. Connick, the Director of Works; A.H. Markwart, Assistant Director of Works; and all other departments, division chiefs, and committees. Includes correspondence with outside contractors, city officials, and the U.S. War Department, as well as suggestions from the general public.
