Scope and content:

The series contains files for twenty-five books written by, or in a few cases co-authored by Bob Thomas. The series is further arranged alphabetically into subseries by book project title and includes: Subseries 1. Astaire, the Man, the Dance; Subseries 2. Bud and Lou: The Abbott & Costello Story; Subseries 3. Clown Prince of Hollywood: The Antic Life and Times of Jack L. Warner; Subseries 4. Disney's Art of Animation: From Mickey Mouse to Beauty and the Beast; Subseries 5. Golden Boy: The Untold Story of William Holden; Subseries 6. The Heart of Hollywood: A 50-year Pictorial History of the Film Capital and the Famed Motion Picture and Television Relief Fund; Subseries 7. Howard, the Amazing Mr. Hughes (co-authored with Noah Dietrich); Subseries 8. I Got Rhythm!: The Ethel Merman Story; Subseries 9. Joan Crawford, a Biography; Subseries 10. The files within each subseries includes a mixture of original typescript, carbon, and/or photocopied drafts of manuscript pages, photographs that may or may not have been used in Thomas' publications, and research material comprised mostly of newspaper and magazine clippings (original and photocopied) and holograph notes of interviews conducted by Thomas. Additionally, files may also include drafts of columns written by Thomas, an occasional note to Thomas, and a very small amount of publicity biographies of various individuals. The files within each subseries are arranged alphabetically by file titles. A small portion of file titles were created or enhanced by the processor. Thomas's name often appears in the abbreviated form, B.T.
