76 items selcted from the Frank and Hannah Schwabacher Collection of California Views. Collection contains 260 snapshot and commercial photographic prints taken in San Francisco following the disaster of 1906. Views show earthquake and fire damage, reconstruction efforts, refugees and refugee camps, street scenes, relief efforts, and street kitchens. Included are photos of the city-wide street-cleaning effort of March 3, 1907. Among the locations and buildings pictured are Union Square, Palace Hotel, Towne resdince on Nob Hill, California St., and South of Market District (including several sections of a panoramic view taken from atop the Atlas Building near Mission and Second Sts.). Many photos are copy prints. Views are by various photographers, all of them unidentified except Willard E. Worden. Collection alos includes views of the Lake Tahoe region, Yosemite Valley, the Panama Pacific International Exposition, and miscellaneous other views.
