Scope and content:

Collection consists of a bound scrapbook of reports and other materials, titled Alguns Factos da Politica Interna da Republica Cubana, written by the Portuguese consul Euclides Goulart da Costa. The scrapbook includes reports, photographs, clippings, and postcards detailing the political, geographic, and cultural landscape of Cuba in the early 20th century.

Biographical / historical:

Portugal and Cuba have maintained a consular level relationship with one another since the beginning of the 19th century. Portugal has also maintained diplomatic relations with Cuba since at least 1920 and in 1938 a Portuguese-Cuban Treaty on commerce was signed in Havana.
