The Friends of the Sierra Railroad Collection, 1897-2004

Series 3: Publications, Newspapers, and Newsletters

Scope and content:

Series three contains publications and newsletters that cover the activities of the FSR, as well as other stories related to the Sierra Railroad. Included in the series are copies and drafts of the Railtown Roundup newsletter, which kept subscribers updated on upcoming rail excursions and other group related events, as well as information about members, spanning from 1982 to 2004. In addition to these, there are newsletters on the Sierra Railroad, including feasibility and economic reports from the California Department of Parks and Recreation, and a travel newsletter meant to attract potential riders. Finally, there are also clippings from numerous northern California newspapers, such as the Modesto Bee, the Oakdale Leader, the Sacramento Bee, and the Union Democrat, which makes up the bulk of the clippings in the collection. Arranged by publication name.
